BREAKING: Stunning new interview with Trump voters who regret supporting him reveals how CLUELESS they were about basic facts and the man that they elected president.
We don’t know whether to laugh or cry…
“Life is becoming more and more unaffordable. The prices of things like gasoline and food overall haven’t come down. I thought it all would just be a lot more affordable,” said Chris, a 42-year-old Republican from Illinois. He also conceded that Trump is “focused on the rich.”
The New York Times interviewed twelve Americans, including Chris, who voted for Trump in the 2024 election. Some now describe themselves as “disappointed” or “betrayed” by their president. Nine of them “regret” their vote.
“We were made a lot of promises during the election. I know that it’s only been a year and a half, but I don’t think I’ve really seen much progress toward even moving toward what he said he was going to do, such as tax breaks or, let’s see, helping with the education system,” said Franceska, a 26-year-old independent from Washington. “I feel like he just defunded a lot of the education systems, the schools. I don’t know why he made so many promises.”
This is what we’re dealing with. This woman looked at Donald Trump’s first term — which revealed that he cared only about passing tax cuts for the rich — and somehow convinced herself that he would put forward pro-education bills in his second term. Never mind the fact that Republicans have been trying to gut the Department of Education for decades and decades. This profound lack of understanding when it comes to history and the GOP’s priorities is why Republicans remain competitive at the ballot box.
As for Franceska’s question about why Trump made so many promises, that’s an easy one. He made them because he knew that a large swath of voters were gullible enough to believe him.
Astonishingly, Franceska also said that she believed Trump would “get rid of taxes” altogether so that Americans would “get our full paycheck instead of just half of it.” Apparently, countries don’t need taxes to function.
Nancy, a 55-year-old independent from Arizona, absurdly stated that she thought Trump would “learn some lessons” during his “second go-around.”
“I thought he’d learned his lesson, and was going to prove to everybody he learned from his mistakes, and he was going to turn the country around and he was going to be a stellar president,” said 62-year-old Jose, an independent from Florida. “But it’s turned out to be a horror movie. I was so wrong with the vote for him.”
If there is one thing we know about Trump at this point, it’s that he never learns from his mistakes because he’s pathologically incapable of taking responsibility for anything he does. He just shifts the blame and moves on to his next blunder.
When pushed to name any Trump accomplishments, 62-year-old John, a Republican from Maryland, pointed to Trump initiating the “ending of the penny, silly at that is.” Wow. What a victory!
Others revealed that Trump’s policies are hurting them personally.
“Tariffs are really impacting me, especially at work, because I work for a company that has offices abroad,” said Nancy, a 55-year-old independent from Arizona. “The tariffs are just creating chaos at work between all of our customers, not understanding all the changes that are happening, and the rollbacks, and are they going to get a refund. It’s just constant chaos.”
Are you kidding us Nancy? Trump ran on tariffs! He told us exactly what he was going to do. Economists warned us that his policies would be catastrophic, and still these people voted for him!
“I feel foolish. In a family full of Democrats, I really stood my ground twice to defend my stance. I feel like time and time again, all of the things that they pointed out would happen have ended up happening,” admitted Michelle, a 45-year-old Republican from Michelle. “And I looked dumb as hell believing in fairy tales and wishy-washy promise.”
Yes. We’re sorry to be blunt, but Trump voters do look “dumb as hell” right now, and the entire world has been stuck with the consequences of their actions. Next time around, either leave the voting to the informed adults or, better yet, vote blue across the board.
